The dark before the light at the end of the tunnel

It has reached that point of Winter where the nasty weather and short days have lost their novelty. My car’s been covering almost all of my mileage and I’m ready to start cycling again. Fortunately my ears were pricked up this past week at hearing the following two statements:
1. “The snow’s all going to melt this weekend”
2. “The days are starting to get longer now”
Whilst these may seem fairly obvious things, they were a sign that my hibernation period is coming to an end and it will soon be time to prepare the bicycle for another year of riding. The light at the end of the tunnel will soon be coming in to view. Just one more glass of wine, slab of chocolate and a few more morning snoozes and I’ll be ready to go …

Be patient. We’ve turned the corner. It was still daylight when I got home from work on Friday!
